OpenAI’s Chief of Safety Research Lilian Weng Announces Departure
OpenAI's Chief of Safety Research, Lilian Weng, has announced her departure from the company. In a post on X last Friday, Weng shared her decision, as reported by TechCrunch.
Weng, who has been with OpenAI since 2018, recently served as Vice President of Research and Safety since August, following her role as the head of the Safety Systems team. Reflecting on her time at OpenAI, Weng stated, "After seven years at OpenAI, I'm ready to take a break and explore new opportunities." She will remain with the company until November 15, but has not disclosed her next steps.
During her tenure, Weng contributed to several significant projects, including developing a robotic hand capable of solving a Rubik’s Cube.
